kitchenaid washing machine stops working then starts when you change agitator speed

I have a kitchenaid washing machine that recently stopped working. I noticed that when I changed the agitator speed, it started working again. I’m not sure why this is happening and I’m looking for some advice. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what did you do to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
