how to remove agitator from ge washer

I’m having trouble removing the agitator from my GE washer. I have tried to do it myself but I can’t seem to figure out how to do it. I’ve looked up instructions online and I’m still having trouble. I’m hoping someone on this forum can help me out and explain to me how to remove the agitator from my GE washer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  1. To remove the agitator from a GE washer, first unplug the washer from the wall. Then, remove the fabric softener dispenser cup and the cap from the top of the agitator. Next, use a socket wrench to remove the bolt that holds the agitator in place. Finally, pull the agitator straight up to remove it from the washer.
