how to clean a kitchenaid dishwasher filter

I’m having a problem with my kitchenaid dishwasher filter. I’m not sure how to clean it properly and would like to know what the best way to do this is. Is there a specific cleaning solution I should use? How often should I clean the filter? Are there any special instructions I should follow? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
