ge washing machine squeaking noise when agitating

I have a GE washing machine that has started making a loud squeaking noise when it’s agitating. I’m not sure what the cause of this noise is, but it’s getting worse and more frequent. I’m worried that something is wrong with the machine and that it might need to be repaired or replaced. Does anyone have any experience with this issue or know what might be causing it? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  1. The most common cause of a squeaking noise when agitating is a worn or loose drive belt. The belt can become worn over time, or it can become loose due to a broken belt tensioner or a damaged motor pulley. In some cases, the noise could also be caused by worn bearings in the transmission or a worn pump.
