what does soil level on a washing machine mean frigidaire

I have a Frigidaire washing machine and I’m trying to understand what the soil level setting means. I’ve looked through the manual and I’m still not sure what this setting does. Does it adjust the amount of water used for a cycle? Does it adjust the amount of detergent used? Does it adjust the cycle time? I’m hoping someone can explain this to me in more detail so I can make sure I’m using my washing machine correctly.

  1. Soil level on a washing machine is a setting that allows you to adjust the amount of water used in the wash cycle, depending on how soiled the clothes are. It is usually indicated by a number, with higher numbers meaning more water is used.
