what does it sound like when the timer is bad on a ge hotpoint washing machine

I recently noticed that the timer on my GE Hotpoint washing machine isn’t working properly. When I turn it on, the timer runs but it doesn’t seem to be accurate. I can hear it ticking, but it doesn’t seem to be moving at the right speed. I’m not sure if the timer is bad or if there’s something else wrong with the machine. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you in advance.
