I was recently tasked with removing the agitator from a Hotpoint washing machine. I was a bit intimidated at first, but I quickly realized it was a simple process. First, I unplugged the machine from the wall. Then, I removed the fabric softener dispenser cup, which was held in place by two screws. After that, I removed the agitator by unscrewing the four bolts that held it in place. I then had to remove the plastic cap that covered the agitator shaft. The cap was held in place by two clips, which I removed with a pair of pliers. Finally, I was able to pull the agitator off the shaft. The whole process took me about twenty minutes, and I was relieved to have successfully removed the agitator.
