how to remove shipping rod from hotpoint top loading washer

I have a Hotpoint top loading washer and I’m having trouble removing the shipping rod. I’ve looked online and it seems like it should be easy, but I’m having a hard time figuring it out. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the shipping rod from a Hotpoint top loading washer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
