how to clean the solid waste trap on a hotpoint dish washer

I’m having trouble figuring out how to clean the solid waste trap on my Hotpoint dishwasher. I’ve looked up some tutorials online, but I’m still a bit confused. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this? I’m worried that if I don’t clean it properly, it might cause problems with the dishwasher. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
